Obituary for Doris L. (Bross) Mahsman

Doris L. (Bross) Mahsman, 92, of Palmyra, MO passed away at 3:50 AM Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, MO.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO. Pastor Wes Gehrke will officiate. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, MO.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of services Monday at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel.

Doris was born November 18, 1926, in Denver, CO to Harry C. and Leah Gash Bross.

She was married to Lawrence E. Mahsman on June 10, 1948 in West Ely, MO. He preceded her in death February 3, 2002.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Mahsman of Palmyra, MO and her son, John Mahsman of New London, MO; two grandchildren, Daniel Wombles (Renee) of Pleasant Hill, IL and Michelle Hartman (Steven) of Holts Summit, MO; seven great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Clifford Alan Mahsman, and two brothers, Denny M. Bross and Robert Allen Bross.

Doris was a 1945 graduate from Palmyra High School. She then attended Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL and obtained her Associate's Degree in 1947. Doris later went on to Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO to obtain her B.A. in Education, graduating in 1969.

Professionally, Doris was a school teacher. She taught in a one room school in West Ely and also in Monroe City and Palmyra school districts.

During her earlier years, Doris took pleasure in gardening and having flowers, bowling, and traveling.

She was a former member of the Zion Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Zion P.T.A. Doris was also involved as a leader in 4-H, a charter member of Heritage Seekers, and a Republican Committee Woman for Liberty Township.

Doris enjoyed music, reading, art, and history. She always took pride in supporting conservative traditional values.

Doris was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Zion Lutheran Church.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Wombles, Steven Hartman, Jim Pankartz, Steve Bross, Luke Mahsman, Russell Wombles, Kelly Rolando, Mark Bross and Josh Gass.
